John 3:14 - 16: "And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so it is necessary [for] the Son of Humanity to be lifted up, so that every [one] believing [or, trusting] in Him shall not perish, but shall be having eternal life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten [or, unique] Son, so that every [one] believing [or, trusting] in Him shall not perish, but shall be having eternal life!
Jesus died on the cross and He completed the task set before Him with gladness in His heart because He knew that He would bring reconciliation between God and man.
In return for the work Jesus did on the cross we must take up our cross and follow Him.
Read Romans 12:1+2, Luke 9:23, 1Corinthians 9:26, 2Timothy 4:7
Jesus was forced to wear the crown of thrones. One of the accusations brought before Pilate was that Jesus claimed to be the King of the Jews. (Matt.27:11). The Roman soldiers thought that it was the appropriate thing to crown Jesus as the King of the Jews, but instead of a crown of gold our Saviour had to wear a crown of thorns. We must crown the Lord as King in our lives! (Read Matt.27:27-29)
The dove
The dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit. We must rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us in our daily walk with the Lord. It is the Holy Spirit that helps us to remember what the Lord did on the cross. Read Rom 8, John 6:63.
The comma
The Psalms is full of Selah's which means:
Rest awhile, O tried believer, and change the strain to a softer air.
The Amplified Bible explains it as follows:
Psalm 3:4 With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
And that is what we are all about! We must come to a point in our lives, where we can stop with everything that we are busy with and focus on what the Lord did for us on the cross. And what He is still doing for us today. He is the author and finisher of our faith. (Heb 12:2)
