Now after nearly a decade in the national spotlight, Building 429 has teamed with Provident Music Group for their fifth album, Listen To The Sound. “It really is the overflow of the life that we’ve lived over the last two or three years, especially this past year,” says lead vocalist Jason Roy. “I’m a worship pastor now and that has been a huge part of the lyrical content of this record. It’s about the lives that I’ve been involved with. This really does come from a much more honest place.”

These days the sound of worship is increasingly diverse. Old values are being re-embraced while new flavours and styles are connecting with whatever is fresh within the life of the Church. What’s the usual model for corporate or congregational worship? A stage filled with musicians, singers, instruments, soundboards, monitors. And below them the congregation.

Level Ground breaks that mold and tries something different. The evening of the live recording, the stage was completely empty. Instead worship leader and songwriter Brian Doerksen and his band joined worshipers on the church floor, all lifting the name of Jesus from a place of level ground.
